The passing away of a dear Mother

We are all destined to pass away at certain period of time which is definite but when exactly , is woven in mystery . Some of us leave all of a sudden due to accident caused by reasons well beyond our control/ prediction which leaves the relatives in a state of shock !! The impact of shock lies on how closely you were related to the deceased person !!The life span in any form is limited in time domain depending on the species .
The life span in the human form under the normal circumstances is limited to living conditions prevailing at the place of residence of the person . Besides , it also depends on the medical/ physical state of the person in general.
Yet we are never prepared to accept the certainty of end of our lives or that of our near /dear ones . This is but an inevitable event that we are all destined to face at some or other time in our lives, yet we are all taken by shock which is almost invariably unbearable to all of us when we are confronted by the end of life of a near/ dear one !
We find it unbearable to face the death of our parents who are held dear by us since they were so much part & parcel of our own lives since we came into this worldly existence ! The relation between the mother & her children is a special bond that is linked by birth !! In fact even before birth starting from the conception stage of our existence. The motherhood is a special status assigned to the female in each specie by the law of nature & is respected by all humans in every society !! The love & care associated with motherhood is unique & is unmatched with all other forms of love that we all term as love !!Compare it to the love that exists between a man & a woman or between other blood relation , there can hardly be comparison between any of these & the one between mother & her off spring !!
It is indeed another feeling of grief that I am constrained to add to the recent experience of intense pain that I had to share with yet another person who I came to know through internet of course , that had to bear the sudden loss of her dear mother due to the cancer of liver that she had to suffer !! I find that she is completely devastated at her sudden loss which is too unbearable by this young girl who lost her dear mother after a lot of suffering !! The family left behind her is rather quite large comprising of 6 young daughters & a son ,the eldest one being a highly qualified young girl with a master's degree, the others being girls of quite high academic achievements of masters & graduate in Textile , while others still busy in their education !!
We all are destined to go sooner or later since we all are mortals but it is easier said than personally experienced pang of separation from some one who has been part & parcel of our upbringing !! Mother is a special person in our lives.Be of any species , the mother's love is indeed unique & there is a famous saying ' God could not be every where so HE made the mother "!! The true example of pure love can only be matched with the love between a mother & her off spring !!
I am sad to learn about the passing away of a very dear one's very dear mother & join in her grievous loss of a person held so high in respect & love by the family !!
May the departed soul rest in eternal peace & may God give sufficient fortitude to the bereaved family !! AMEN

PRAYER FOR A DEAR FRIEND SUFFERING FROM LEUKEMIA

We all have to face the grief of learning about the impending tragedies that confront our lives directly or indirectly !! Both the types of griefs which directly affect the lives of the individuals or indirectly those whose Near/ dear one suffer due to being diagnosed with an incurable disease such as Leukemia also called Blood cancer is a terrible tragedy !! However grief to the person diagnosed as a patient or to those who are close to the sufferer of the ailment is very hard to evaluate.
I feel the suffering is more intensely felt by the sufferer of the disease !! Although we are all aware of the fact that we are all destined to leave this life sooner or later but we do not give much thought to this fact. But when one is specifically forewarned that his/ her existance is limited to a specific period of time ,then it is harsh reality which is rather very hard to bear by the person diagnosed with the incurable ailment than the persons who hold the sufferer very dear / close to their heart !!
While it is too hard for the person to bear the thought of impending end of life he/ she wanted to live for various reasons of commitment to others who may be dependent on such person or unfulfilled desires / task which the person had conceived for self !! It becomes more tragic when the person diagnosed is too young ,say in early twenties when aspirations run high in life !! It is too tragic to bear such a loss by those not directly involved but being close to the victim of the disease also suffer a lot .The loss of life by any being , human or other form is universally unbearable .But time is the best healer for those who hold the person dear .
There is NOT a single family that has not lost prematurely some one held dear by them . But none can gauge the suffering by the person who is suddenly made to foresee the end of lifef or being forewarned about the end ! Who would like or likes to die ? None without exception if I dare say so !!
The question might arise in the mind of the reader as the reason for my writing so !! Well I have to face the tragedy indirectly as I am just informed by some one very dear/ close to me that the person has just been diagnosed as a patient suffering from Leaukemia . I find the thought chilling both for the person directly involved & me as an indirectly involved person !! The sudden revelation to both of us is a shock hard to bear !! I have suffered a heart attack about 9 years back but to the best of my memory , I never thought worrysome of the impending end to my existance at 65 years of age but now when the patient happens to be just 23 years of age , I find the grief too unbearable !!
Under the prevailing circumstaces , one has to resort to PRAYER for rhe inevitable to turn evitable !! Where every other means fail to produce the desired / intended result One has to call through The MERCY plea with the unknown force whom we all call GOD to shower HIS MERCY on the victim to grant relief to the suffering person who is so DEAR to us to prolong the life span of the sufferer/ Victim! I would therefore seek the MERCY from GOD to grant a fresh lease of life to this very Dear person
May I request all the readers of this blog to join me in the prayer to prolong the life of the sufferer by curing the person of otherwise incurable disease as we all know that where all others fail to provide relief the miracles DO occur to save lives of such sufferers through PRAYER !! AMEN !!!

THE revised pension for JCOs & below

This is a copy of my comments published in indianexservicemen blog

The new pension rules for our veteran brothers up to the JCO & Eqvt level based on the recommendations of Secretary committee are finally out & accessible to all the interested veterans having computer access.
In this connection I would like to bring out my comments published earlier in this blog which are copied & placed below.
The revised pension per the proposal of secretary would most likely be for X group with 33 years of service including weightage:

Sepoy 50% of 14050 = 7025
Naik 50 % of 15060 =7530
Havildar 50 % of 16710 =8355
Naib Subedar 50 % of 23020 =11510
Subedar 50 % of 26210 = 13105
Sub Major 50 % of 26900 = 13450
EO&E
You may verify these figures from the table in 6th pay commision report , modified by the secretaries Report. The formula for my calculation was given in my earlier comments.
Regards & best wishes .
SKS
I should bring out here that my calculation was slightly different for the ranks of Sepoy ,Naik & Havildar due to my omission of element of Classification pay/allowance of Rs 120/- thereby showing a discrepancy of Rs 60/- in my figures arrived at.However ,the figures in respect of Nb Subedar ,Subedar & Sub Major are correctly calculated by me as compared to the figures appearing in the table for army veterans in group X at 30 Years plus service.
Now it would be interesting to compare the pension if it was granted @70% of the minimum of the pay band as per the scale approved by the Govt.
The amount of pension based on 70% of the minimum pay band is placed below for comparison with the amount now approved by the Govt:
Sepoy : 70% of (5200+2000 grade pay+2000 MSP +1400 Group X pay +150 of Classification pay=10750x70%=7525 while the presnt pension approve is 7085.
Naik:5200+2400+2000+1400+120=11120x70%=7784 compared to 7590 approved pension.
Havildar: 5200+2800+2000+1400+120=11520
x70%=8064 compared to 8064 approved pension
Nb Sub.:9300+4200+2000+1400=16900
x70%=11830 compared to Rs 11510 approved pension.
Subedar: 9300+4600+2000+1400=17300
x70%=12110 compared to Rs 13105 approved pension.
Sub. Major: 9300+4800+2000+1400=17500
x70%=12250 compared to Rs 13450
I would leave it to the readers to make their own assessment of what is sanctioned as compared to OROP if sanctioned as envisaged by us.
Therefore please do NOT be misguided by the PSEUDO LEADERS who claim that OROP suits only OFFICERS & not all the veterans.Of course I did not calculate the pension of say Havildar who retires post 2006 with 30 years of service. Just imagine what would be his pension while he is placed in pay band as on 01 jan 2006 at say 26/27 years of service & his pension amount in comparison with a Havildar with the same length of service but who retired before 01 Jan 2006.
I leave it your judgement to reconcile to the present state of your pension in case you had retired before Jan 2006 or aspire & fight for OROP.
With best wishes to all the veterans & hope that I could make you realize what you should aspire for & why.

I wish to correct the typing error in my above post for the rank of Havildar. It should read as 8064 compared to Rs 8415 approved pension.
Thanks for publishing my comments.

Ex-Servicemen Blogs & Positive Role of EXWEL TRUST Veterans

I can not restrain myself from showering praises on the role of the some of the most revered among the Ex-servicemen like Hon.Fg.Officer C ChandraSekar, who have been contributing a lot by their exemplary/ exceptional service for the cause/ welfare of Ex servicemen .
More so in the light of mushrooming of so many blogs of specially ex servicemen who claim to represent the interest of our so called under-privileged class of Ex servicemen by exploiting their condition, such acts of individuals like him need to be highlighted by your Blog.Even the educated class of such Ex-servicemen belonging to Army, IAF & navy are becoming easy bait by some of these Pseudo leaders who are claiming to represent such group. There is absolutely NO doubt that our men in/out of uniform have NOT been given their DUES ,in terms of monetary benefits as well RECOGNITION of very important role played by the Defense personnel of all ranks ,in preserving the freedom of our country who have sacrificed their lives /privileges in the service of their mother land.
I wish to convey my concern at the attitude of such Pseudo Leaders who are hell bent on dividing our Ex Services community on the lines of different ranks that are part of every Military in the world ,being an in-escapable necessity in an organization of hierarchical nature
We do not live in a Utopian society devoid of class. We do not have equal compensation for the work done by us in any society & to curse those placed above us is not right approach since some where down the line we are placed above & below others.
Let us NOT allow others to exploit us to their own advantage to carve out their own higher status of being our leaders. We must assert our own views based on our personal assessments without being influenced by others who seem to influence our minds for their own personal gains/reputation.
In this regard,I can say without any personal bias ,that your blog is held in high esteem by all Ex-servicemen of all ranks.
KUDOS to your contribution for the service to the Ex servicemen & their families irrespective of their ranks.
With warm regards,
Wg Cdr (Retd) Sushil K Sudan

Special Family Pension/Enhanced Family Pension

While there may be some reason to rejoice for the retired Lt.Col & Eqvt but one would feel quite dismayed at the plight of the widows of those who died while serving .The pension of this category are classified under differnt names such as special family pension ,enhanced pension etc.Unfortunately this category of pensioners were completely forgotten by NO mention in the report of 6th Pay commission.Their pension was last reviewed by the 5th pay commission which had revised their pension to 60% of the minimum of the revised Pay scale in the case of Special Family Pension . I am not aware of how the other special categories were revised."Only the wearer knows where the shoe pinches." Unless one is personally affected ,we some how do not relate to a problem of such cases who have been left in the lurch & completely left out to suffer due to the negligence on the part of those responsible to look after the interest of these WIDOWS of once our colleages in uniform. What is the REDRESSAL of these VICTIMS of INJUSTICE ?May I request Major Navdeep to look into this ANOMALY to find ways to provide relief to these Ladies ?
